The best quality to an urgent deadline – 1956 MG MGA

Our client brought us an MG MGA for complete restoration, the car was in a fair condition – the only snag was he needed it without fail for the Goodwood Members day.

The vehicle was originally purchased to be converted to a racing specification but after further thought it was decided to instead perform a bare metal concours restoration.

In discussions with the client we settled on a colour scheme that would accentuate the MGAs flowing lines. A dark silver metallic for the body paired with a stunning red leather interior. All exterior bright work was re-chromed and a mixture of new and vintage parts were used.

The seats were re-trimmed in a red leather hide and complete handmade carpet set was installed. New door cards were installed and all gauges were refurbished. A factory correct vintage steering as well as other original interior fitments were sourced.

Engine and ancillaries

The engine was rebuilt with as many original parts used as possible. The engine and engine bay were carefully detailed to original factory finishes.

Improvements and upgrades

Our client decided on electronic ignition and a state of the art alarm system with a tracker and smart phone connection.

After many long nights the vehicle was ready in time for Goodwood’s Members Day. The car was picked by Sir Stirling Moss for inclusion in the best of show judging.

You may well have seen this car – it was purchased by celebrity Chef James Martin and features in the opening credits of his Saturday cookery show.
